Your book has several suggestions for how to distract opponents and ways to deflect shots such as “blowing” and “fingering.” Are these forms of cheating?
They are not technically cheating if they are allowed. Distractions and taunting may seem cheap and annoying but its just part of the sport. Some players do it, some don’t. However, “blowing” and “fingering” are actually rule variations meaning, they are not the norm but some people play with them. Bottom line is if they are permitted, have fun; if not, then it’s cheating. Just know all the rules before you ever step up to the table. House Rules trump everything.

A recent news story (that was since revealed as a hoax) claimed that Beer Pong has been linked to the spread of Herpes. Can players catch illnesses from others? How can this be avoided?
First off, it is time to lay this vicious rumor to rest. The drive-by media has been conspiring against Beer Pong for many years and this time they took it too far. When a simple joke was picked up by major media as fact, it spread like wild fire. But the joke is on them because not only was it a lie, but the Center for Disease Control flat out called it a “hoax.” What ever happened to fact checking? SHAME ON YOU ALL! The Beer Pong community deserves an apology. Special thanks goes out to Mr. Stephen Colbert for exposing this conspiracy.
We did however work with two undergrads at George Washington University who conducted a study of the microbes present at a typical college Beer Pong game. They found high levels of a bacterial family that contains such species as E. coli, pneumonia, and salmonella—all biological party fouls to be sure. And the worst offender: the wash cup
But you can reduce your risk with 4 easy steps:
1. Don’t drink from the cups in play—consolidate all beers into a personal drinking cup. Also known as a “chill cup.”
2. Don’t stack empty cups—this just helps transmit funk. Use the cascade method and set them side-by-side.
3. Consider changing the water in the wash cup between each game. Better yet, make an antimicrobial cocktail for the wash cup with a solution of 60 percent vodka and 40 percent water.
4. Don’t lose.
